Cruisin' Gville!

After rain-outs in May and June, the weather finally permitted a car cruise on Main Street in Garrettsville on Saturday evening, July 27. This is my favorite venue for car cruise events. Love that the street is closed off to through traffic and we’re free to wander about with the historic storefronts forming an ideal backdrop. The show was well attended and it was great to see people out enjoying themselves. Mayor Rick Patrick and Jerry Kehoe were on hand to emcee and present awards. Live music was provided by the Legacy band. And of course many great old cars and their owners. As always, a great sense of Americana in a small town event. By this point in the summer, the event spans from full daylight into early twilight. My early shots have the wonderfully rich golden glow of early evening. But I live for the later phase in the last hour before sunset when the sky begins to darken and wonderful shadows and backlighting emerge. I always linger for a bit to capture motion blue shots as the cars begin to depart.
