Independence Day
This year, Hiram Ohio celebrated Independence Day on Friday evening, July 2nd. The annual bike rodeo for kids was held at the Hiram Christian Church. Chief Brian Gregory served as emcee and HPD police officers were on hand to guide kids through the course. The Grand Parade formed up next after an intro from Hiram Mayor Lou Bertrand. The parade headed west on Wakefield Road, led by a procession of emergency vehicles from various local departments. The parade wound its way through the village, making its way to the area near the Hiram College athletic field. There a balloon magician entertained kids and people solicalized on the hillside. An air ambulance helicopter from University Hospitals landed and folks lined up for a close look. Crowds grew in anticipation of the fireworks which were launched at dusk. Great small town atmosphere as usual. Wonderful to see people back in public after last year’s events were canceled on account of Covid. Weather was mostly cooperative although some light rain showers raced through on occasion. Here are some highlights of the events captured as I made my way though the venues. Thanks to everyone for posing for pictures.
