Rodeo Night!

June 7 was Rodeo Night, the summer kick-off event at Ravenna City Park of Dreams in Ravenna Ohio. The annual event is a partnership with the Reed Memorial Library and Ravenna Parks & Recreation. This year’s gathering featured a wild west theme with a petting zoo, hay rides, square dancing, crafts, food trucks, face painting, squirt gun target practice, bubble guns, and other family-oriented events. Reed Library staffers were situated throughout the park running the various activities and serving an endless line of snow cone lovers. A large crowd was on hand for the festival. Long lines formed at every attraction. The hayride was particularly popular as people waited for a large John Deere tractor to make its loop trip with a trailer full of riders. Face painting was also hugely popular. The square dancing was performed by the Ravenna Circulators with Dave Heffron doing the calling.
