Garrettsville Summerfest!

Spent Friday evening in Garrettsville photographing the annual Summerfest carnival. Weather was absolutely perfect, and the venue was jam-packed with people. The main street is blocked off for the event, and forms an inviting corridor flanked by the historic storefronts. There’s a stage at each end of the midway, and all manner of food, clothing, jewelry, and craft vendors in between. Sights and sounds overwhelm the senses. Photographically speaking, I chip away at the edges trying to get good story-telling visuals that convey a sense of the festive mood. I especially enjoy photographing the musicians as they perform. Most of all I love experiencing the transition from daylight into night. I’ve always loved the colorful glow of concession stands and amusement park rides at night.
