Where's Waldo?
To cap off a very busy day, I visited the first car cruise event of the season in Garrettsville this evening. This is one of my favorites because it's held right on Main Street. The old storefronts make a wonderful photographic backdrop. I love that they close down the road for the event and you can wander freely without fear of getting run over. I generally don't arrive at these shows until there's only about a half hour remaining. The lighting is much more conducive to photography as the sun begins to set and often there are wonderful light and shadow elements up and down Main Street. As I drove into town I was greeted with a wonderful backdrop of dark clouds with the foreground bathed in gorgeous evening sun. I was taken by the fact that I could see virtually the entire show from a vantage point on Route 82. I waited for a break in traffic and walked out into the intersection to take the title photo for this post. The telephoto lens compressed distance and gave the photo a sense of being all jammed together. It reminded me of a Where's Waldo puzzle with all of the people wandering about and the confused jumble of barricades and traffic signs.
